Thanked: 0New Razor/Stropping Question
I just received a Dovo Special from SRD. Fast shipping I might add, it shipped within an hour of ordering it. My question is this. I know that the razor was honed and is shave ready. Does shave ready mean I shouldn't strop it the first time? Also, I screwed up my strop a little the other day and it had a gouge/small tear in it. I fixed it with some rubber cement and it feels pretty smooth. There is a little divot on the very left edge but I generally don't "hit" that area when stropping in the X pattern. If stropping is required do I take the chance of screwing something up, taking into consideration that my stropping technique is still a work in progress.

Thanked: 172Don't strop it the first shave, because it has already been done before it shipped. After just take your time with the stropping prior to each shave. sounds like the nicks in your strop should be ok because it sounds like there out of the way.

Thanked: 213Paco is right it was stropped but it would not hurt to do it again, it has been sitting and oiled. for sure get the oil off. As for your strop, Take a pumice stone to the nick and get it even again. Wash it with saddle soap and apply some Neatsfoot oil. Your good to go.
