Thread: Hello all!

Wanted to stop by and write a little introduction for you all.

My name is Rob, I'm a 32yo single father of a great 22 month old boy, love pretty much all things with blades, kitchen knives included as I do pretty much all the cooking. For years I have been honing (no pun intended) my skills as far as knife sharpening is concerned, and I certainly look forward to that aspect of the SR as well. It provides a certain mind quieting aspect that I have come to enjoy a great deal. I also enjoy calligraphy, as well as penmanship just to name a few things.

I have been interested in the famous "straight razor shave" for quite some time, but before I jumped in I thought I would do as much research on the subject as I could. I've been all over the internet, reading about techniques, opinions, and all the "equipment" that goes along with it .

I understand it's by far an exact science, but now that I have educated myself a good bit, I feel that I am ready to give the SR a shot. I've tried electric razors and multiblades, and I despise them

I look forward to being able to purchase a SR in the near future, and learning this fine art to add to my repertoire

Welcome to SRP Rob. Your description of your knife sharpening as providing "a certain mind quieting aspect" mirrors my feeling when I am honing razors which I enjoy as much, if not more, than shaving with them. I have a feeling you'll take to it like a duck to water.

You have been reading!!!! You just need to remember to take your time and not expect the world when you first start learning to shave with a straight. It is a skill that takes time to learn!
