You mentioned doing the TNT on a shave ready razor. That may have been why the razor shaved rough.

I think that the PPT or TPT will give you more insight
into the sharpness of the blade, but they take longer
to develop. Still, the shave test is all that counts.

    That's a very good call.

I can virtually guarantee you that the moment you tried the TNT, your razor stopped being shave ready, and needs to be honed again. It is NOT for testing shave readiness, only for testing a bevel for chips.

As many people have said, there is one true test for shave readiness, and one test only - the shave test. The other tests all have their uses, and can be valuable tools for honing, but at the end of the day, all that matters is whether or not it shaves.

If you want to see what a "shave ready" edge feels like, you just shave with it.

You have learnt a few things since you shave tested.

    1. every sharpenss test tests just what it tests and nothing more. A shave test tests whether you can shave with the razor, not whether you can cut a hanging hair and vice versa.

    2. everyone has their own criteria for shave readiness. Only the universally aknowledged honemeisters are the guys you can rely on to sharpen your razor satisfactorily.
