I shall receive my blonde Dovo 6/8 on Saturday, which has me on tenterhooks. I'm new to this straight shaving business, so it's good to hear a positive story of the process!

    Good start.
Don't worry about getting a BBS yet. The first 100 straight razor shaves are just practice. Take your time, be patient and enjoy the journey.
If it was perfect the first time without any practice everybody would use a straight razor. Just hang in there, it gets even better.

    Congrats, Jeremy.

I know the frustration of reading all the posts here about guys getting BBS on the first time, and then I don't get it. I've been at this for about a month now, maybe a little more, and I "think" I finally figured out which way my whiskers grow, they are tricksy little things.

Like everyone here has said, just keep at it, and things will get better. Don't use any pressure, the weight of the blade should be all the pressure you need. If you can't get it as smooth as you would like, and have to keep up the "hybrid" shave, that's just fine, in fact, that is what is recommended.

    Have fun, shave well.
