Nope.
Paste is just for touch ups. you can use a barber hone, paste or both.
If you want, you can paste one side of your linen and leave the other clean, and if your razor needs a touching up, strop it on the paste.

You know those little coloured tubes of strop paste Red,White,Green & Yellow?well how do they compare to .5 chr.paste?And who sells .5 chromuim oxide paste (if that's the correct name for it) in the UK?
