Default Straight shaving tips from a newbie, part 1.

    1) never try new shaving strategies during weekdays, if it goes wrong you will show up ugly at work.

see you tomorrow with a new tip!

Haha, I thought about this same thing. I've been having to wait for shaves because I don't want to shave when I have to go to work.

    Default Set Alarm Earlier

I am the impatient type, so I set my alarm for 0450 hrs instead of 0500 hrs. This gives me extra time during the work week.

Also, since I have only been at this only two weeks, here is a piece of advice from this beginner:
"Do not respond to your wife's comments--desires for conversation--while you are learning to shave with a SR."

She gets it now, but it took a few of the following:
    "what...oh, OK...Ouch!"
"Oh, sorry. I will let you concentrate."
"Thanks. Where is my styptic pencil?"

Make sure the floor's DRY. If you slip, that razor could go ANYWHERE, and odds are good that one of you won't come out of it unscathed.

Haha, since I shave right after my shower, I thought of that too. Quickest decision I've ever made to put my boxers on.

I guess I'll throw one in here. If you're the type that is affected directly by food, don't shave until after you've eaten something decent for the day. It'll give you a little more steady hand. When your throat is getting friendly with a blade that will split a hair, it's good to have a steady hand...

Unless you wear boxer shorts woven out of steel wool, then that's not nearly heavy enough! I use a "sheet towel" so I have two layers of heavy towel in front.

1)Take your time and don't force progress. The journey to getting a BBS shave is fun and enlightening.

    2) There will be a threshold amount of $ invested to get some good shaving tools and accessories.

    3) Don't let the cats/dogs/kids/wife bump you while shaving.

    4) We all got through the learning process and so will you!
