Default Str8 Razor first time purchase suggestions / opinions

Recently started wet shaving with a Merkur Futur. I get very close shaves with it and it seems very forgiving, I've had only a few very minor nicks over the past month or so.

I would like some recommendations on what would be a decent Str8 razor and strop to start out with. Str8's are where I ultimately want to go as far as shaving.

My price range is between $100-$ 175. I'm looking for decent quality and one that will hold an edge well and will be easy to hone once I get more experience with Str8's.

Any help and suggestions will be much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Regards,
    John

    Welcome
I was pointed to the Dovo straight razors, when I first joined this forum. I am very happy with my purchase.

There's a Dovo special in the classifieds that fulfills all your requirements.

    As for a strop: http://straightrazorpalace.com/vendo...ma-strops.html

It gets a good review from Joe Chandler, a respected mamber here.

Welcome Onboard. A 5/8 or 6/8 from this list:

I would either peruse the classifieds section here at SRP or shop one of the vendors here at SRP.
