Thanked: 0Just a few questions that have been pestering me!
Hey guys, thanks for all of the help on my first thread, I am in love with wet-shaving already!
I just have a few questions that i'd just like to have answered:
Firstly, i've heard lots of good things about Taylor of Bond Street shaving cream, and it seems to be at a very good price aswell! Where do you guys but your TOBS cream though? I live in the states and would like a reputable vendor, without paying a huge shupping charge. What fragrance do you think is the best? Almond seems to appeal to me, but i'm not sure how good that actually is.
Also, is the difference between a nomral badger brush and silver tip a HUGE difference?
I wanted to buy the AOS $100.00 shaving kit, becuase it also comes with a normal badger brush, anyone have any opinions as to the quality on that one?
Thanks a bunch in advance!

I can only answer two of your questions. First, anything AOS sells is no bargin whether its a kit or not.
Second, I don't know what you mean by a normal badger brush. If you mean pure badger as opposed to silvertip there is a world of difference. if you mean a best badger the difference is far less. However the brand of the brush will make a large difference either way.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

i have not used many creams, but i liked taylor's almond. how good it actually is you can only determine by trying it and comparing to others.
same with brushes, it's all relative and what to me is an important difference to you may be rather inconsequential.

I can't comment on the cream. On the brushes the pure badger is a stiff and scrubby with a prickly feel to it. It won't hold as much water as a Silvertip but it will hold enough to get the job done.
With silvertips you have different grades and not all of the manufacturers use the same nomenclature. For some a 'Finest' is the top of the line for others 'Super' or High Mountain White. Than there are grades in between.
Some like the feel of a less expensive brush better than the more expensive hair. It really is a matter of personal preference and can only be learned by trial and error. While the feel is slightly different depending on the badger hair the main thing that separates them in terms of cost is color.
The whiter they are the higher the grade. So a 'Best' may be preferred to a 'Super' by some shavers and there are some who like the feel of a pure badger. Better is in the opinion of the shaver.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Get the AOS kit on ebay. I got the $100 kit on ebay for $69. Although Im a noob I like the lavender scent. The brush alone costs $55 so its a steal.

The Shoebox Shave Shop here has a good selection, and about the best price I have seen lately. They also have the 1/5 oz. sample sizes, so you can try out different scents before you buy a big tub. (Although that's $8/oz as opposed to about $2.80/oz in the regular size. You make the call.) Good shipping and service, too.

Thanked: 1taylors rose is nice but a mild scent. mr. taylor is my favorite scent. taylors is a very good product. a vulfix brush in silvertip is a great brush and a great value for creams. just about any model of the vulfix will do well.
