Welcome to SRP!! As Jimmy stated, look through the WIKI. There are a lot of misconceptions about straight razors in society these days, so a walk through the WIKI will get you grounded. View some of the vids on making lather and straight shaving. You can start making lather as soon as you get the brush and soap/cream (See the WIKI) and use your current method of shaving, if it's not an electric Then you can make a better decision as to which direction you would like to go in.

Good luck in your quest and be sure to ask questions as you find them.

I think several of the US makers did make a fixed handle at one time. I think I even have one if I can find it. I'll look around. I have 3 japanese style razors and enjoy them along with my regular straight razors.

    Welcome.

Better watch some straight shaving videos on youtube.

yes, custom makers will make a non folding straight razor for a price, that doesn't have a flat bevel and allows the use of both sides and normal honing and upkeep.

Alternately you can get one of these for the same price or cheaper, and skip the stropping and honing altogether: The Feather "No-Sharpen" Straight Razor
