Thanked: 0Disposable razor = Straight edge razor?
Hey everyone, Josh here again. Rethinking, I've decided to invest my first straight shaving expenses in a disposable straight edge razor. Now is there a proper term for what them? straight edge? anyways on to a better question. Because the blades are all replacable I suppose the actual brand of the razor will not matter. Am I wrong? ARe there better quality handles out there? and as for blades. What are the most reputable, or what is the best kind that will hold an edge?

Thanked: 1I believe they are called shavette's. From what I hear from others on the board and elsewhere is that they are less forgiving than a regular straight razor.

There is a brand I can't remember, Sanguine maybe, that looks a lot like an actual straight and has similar balance, so I'm told.
I would see if I could find something that looked like a traditional straight.
Try a search on Google for Sanguine x-D20Last edited by AFDavis11; 09-05-2009 at 02:35 AM.

Probably the feather's are at the top of the heap in disposables.

Thanked: 190Disposable straights - I have three of them. Diane 21, Shavette, and Feather. The balance talk is minor details for me that is negligable. Yes, they are straight razors with disposable blades. I call my others - fixed straight razors. I think the Japan blade for the Diane 21 and Feather are very similiar and last about the same. Sorry to bust the marketing bubble on this, but the cheapy Diane 21 shaves just as well as the others. Feather also makes a cheapy scale/blade holder as well.
Spend the bigger money on nice fixed straights. Disposable straights blades have their place.
