It won't do any harm, unless you slip on a wet tang & cut the strop in half!
Some do it, but i never feel the need & if i did, i think it wouldn't be long before i decided the whole process was becoming a pain.

Check the edge for whiskers first, if I need to do it I always use the linen first, two laps for cleaning.

i do not think it would hurt. i strop before and after each shave. i use linen about 10-15 laps and then on the leather about 15 laps. i always seem to have a great edge. so a little more stropping should not hurt, say 10-15 laps.
i have seen where some members strop 30 to 40 times, if you did like me plus added the 10 or so in between, it would just about be the same

I strop a time or two during a shave, and believe it improves the shave. Several times I viewed the edge with a microscope before and after the stropping. I could not detect any change to the edge, but still believe the cutting ability of the blade is improved.

Some believe stropping is mildly abrasive, and at a very microscopic level resharpens the blade. Some believe stropping straightens bent edges at the microscopic level. With my 100x microscope, I have no way of knowing whether this is true.

Another possibility, and one I definitely believe I've proven to myself, is that stropping (linen and/or untreated leather) cleans the edge and bevel and so improves the sharpness of the edge. (The metal might not be made sharper. But, when the gunk is removed from the edge and bevel it results in a sharper edge being exposed.)

One thing I know is if you shower or bathe before shaving and, your strop is anchored at waist height like mine, be VERY careful if your still naked!!

    Think about it

A female friend of mine accidentally dropped a running Epilady (epilator; rotating coil that jerks hair out by the roots) into her lap. She was in a similar condition as mentioned by tat2Ralfy. Naked!

    Soothing straight razor shave...
Jerk the hair out by the roots...

    SRPites are so superior!
