Thanked: 1I appreciate all of your suggestions and will put them all to practice, to answer the last question, it is usually during the stroke that I get the slice, I think that it is that I am not stretching my skin enough, this last cut was a doozy and is definitely leaving a scar. But I am still using the straight razor, just more carefully now. Thanks to everyone for your advice.

If you haven't read my sig line below give it a once over and follow what it says. Works for me with few exceptions.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

MWillsher, good for you for sticking to it! You're so much more macho than my neighbor who won't even let me practice on his beard. He's a pussy...

The first few months I used a straight it seemed there were about 3 or 4 places where if I was going to cut myself those were always the same places. I would guess it was a matter of playing with technique in those areas and giving them extra concentration and they ceased to be a problem. The worst cut I ever got shaving was during the second week when I thought I had this all down pat. It was at the right side of my mouth just below my lower lip. I was doing a WTG stroke and actually watched my hand do a sideways movement I didn't want it to do like it was possessed or something. I didn't need any stitches but it was one deep cut which left a nice scar which always reminds me to this day to think first and move second.
