    Default Uncharted Territory

I have always hated shaving, but have always been interested in the straight razor. I have only used a mach 3 and an electric. So today i took a step towards learning how to make shaving something that I don't dread doing. I decided to buy a straight razor. Here's what I bought.

    MOST IMPOTANT
    Lynn's dvd on shaving

DOVO Extra Hollow Ground "Singing" Razor, 5/8

    honed by Lynn

Dovo extra wide two sided leather/linen strop

    Soap, Mug, And Brush

I am really looking forward to learning the art! And to making my girlfriend happy with a nice smooth face apposed to the bearded mess i have now!
Been reading a lot on here and this is definitely the place to be.

Thumbs up Glad to find a new user

I look forward to hearing of your experience man.
I'm looking for a razor that isn't too expensive to start out with.
I've been reading on here awhile and look forward to starting myself.

    Welcome, mate

Did you buy it in ebay from Lynn&Don? Or were you planning to send it for honing later?

Sounds you have done your homework and I hope your first shave goes well.

The fellow i bought it off of sent it to Lynn recently and only used it twice. He sold it because he doesn't have time to learn how to use it. I am really excited about shaving for the first time ever!

Ah. I understand. I should be good to go then. The only caveat is that it has been used twice by a newbie (I guess he stropped). Hopefully he has taken a good care of it, but you'll see how it is when you get it.

Welcome to SRP! It sounds like you've done your homework. It's possible that the person you bought the razor from didn't strop it properly, and it won't be as nice a shave as it would, coming straight from Lynn. OTOH it may be fine. If it doesn't shave well you'll have to assess whether it's your shaving technique or the razor. Not a big deal, you can always send it out for a hone, if need be. Sounds like you got a good deal on the razor. Congradulations and good shaving to you.

    Welcome onboard.
It looks like you did your homework. Lynn's DVD and honing are both top quality.

    Good luck.
