Can't find what I'm looking for
I can't find any vintage brand of razor that have that little u-shape at the toe of the razor. Is that a new styling design? Are the vintage razors that are like that just that rare? I can't even find blanks to work with. Grrrrr...help!

Thanked: 1903I presume you mean a barber's notch. We have quite a few of them in the database: Point Barber's Notch - Straight Razor Place Wiki.

I think it's called a barber's notch or dreadnought point. There are vintages out there, but I think it's quite wanted design.

Yup, thanks guys...and bummer. Ok well all I can do is keep searching. It's hard to find just the blade now-a-days. Kind of a bummer.

According to your description, I believe that you are referring to either a barber's notch or a Spanish point, please check this wiki article for disambiguation:
The straight razor - Straight Razor Place Wiki
Both of them are rarer than a round or square point but not terribly so. You should be able to find one or more rather easily.
If you are looking for blanks to make your own razors, you may want to contact Butch (LRHarner) for some info, he is a great guy and he has some for sale:

Go to this site here and scroll down to the 7th razor. I have one and it is a great shaver.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Well, what I've read from the forums, the next blade is always the perfect one .
There's 3 hits in the classified for "notch" and at least two of them are notch-points. Check them out.

As the others have said, they're not that rare. Just be patient.

I have one in my collection and it is a COOL looking razor. It's a Henry Sears & Sons and the handle is a tiger stripe celluloid with a couple of metal inlays in it. I think old Henry had style!
