    Default Finally checking in...

Hi All, I'm new to st8 razor shaving and just thought I'd check in. I've been reading a ton of the wiki during the past month and purchased Lynn's DVD. I knew I was ready. I went with the Dovo Renaissance and strop kit from SRD. The first shaves were tough, but enjoyable. I noticed most newbies have the same problems, so I stayed patient, adjusted blade angle, prepped better, really learned my face and used a light touch; helps to get rid of the death grip. It has paid off this week with my first bbs - it just seemed effortless. Every shave just seems almost more graceful and efficient than the last. Finally the blade feels so natural in either hand... I can't wait for the next shave.

So I just wanted to say thanks to all, because all the posts on here really helped me out at just the right time. I just can't believe how much I enjoy shaving now... I'm looking forward to not only the next shave, but honing and restoring some vintage blades. Thanks again!

Welcome to SRP! Sounds like you started out right and you're having success. Glad to hear it. I'm having a lot of fun shaving as well. I've been playing with restoring razors, restoring brushes, making aftershave, honing and trying to squelch my RAD. It kind of grabs you doesn't it?

It does. I hope to find my second blade in the classifieds this week - a nice shave ready vintage would be nice and then some naniwas and a new soap and and...
