that up stroke!!!
I have been using a str8 for almost 2 months, now i know there is a learning curve, but after i do my down pass,i lather up again and try that up stroke on my neck , i just cant get a smooth pass, especially when i put the razor in my LEFT hand. i guess its practice practice practice. but i did get up the kahones to shave the top of my bald head with my str8 instead of my DE and it felt great. my 20 year old kids think iam wacked, but i am having a blast.

Thanked: 1903Hi, Nessmuck,
You may find this article useful: Shaving passes - Straight Razor Place Wiki. Mind the parts about skin stretching, and cutting angles. Also, in order for an ATG stroke to work, you will need a razor that is truly shave ready.
Good luck, and keep us posted.
Regards,
Robin

Nessmuck,
What kind of shave cream are you using??? Does it have sufficient slickness? I found when just useing soaps it was not enough for my skin. I needed a little shave cream (TABAC) combined with the soap and that made a BIG difference.
The entire shave felt so much smoother.
Hope it works for you too.

Hang in there on the neck shaving. Try shaving indifferent directions and different skin stretching. The neck is hard to get completely BBS due to the curves in the skin and difficulty seeing the blade. Have someone watch you to mention to you when your blade angle gets too far out. The above helped me.
It will take practice and trying different techniques until you find what works best for you.
Good luck.
p.s. congrats on the head shave!!“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)
