Thanked: 0New razor (sort of)
Hey everybody, I received this knife from my uncle years ago, and it had a small straight razor on it.
I was wondering if prepared and sharpened properly, if it can be used as an actual straight razor? or is it just a novelty? There is a regular knife on it also as you can see, which works perfectly well.
here are some pictures:

I'm not sure if that is a razor or a reed knife (as I understood, a tool in shaping the wooden mouthpieces in wind instruments). I think they are generally made from cane, and the name would suggest involvement.
I don't know if they can be used as razors.

I really have no idea but I'm sure it could get the job done, if it was sharp enough. People have shaved with an ax as well, but I think the ax and this knife/razor would be awkward to use.

I actually had a knife with a similar blade when I was a little kid. Of course, I never tried to use it to shave, but if you got it sharp enough and could get a good angle with a handle that doesn't swing all the way around, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Thanked: 18I have seen things like this on the bay posted as straight razors. I dont see why you wouldnt be able to shave with it as long as you can get it sharp enough. I have seen a video once i think it was on here of a guy shaving with a pocket knife. Im sure this is probably for shaving while camping or traveling.
