Thanked: 0Another new guy
Just figured I'd check in and say howdy. Got interested in wetshaving a month or so ago, got myself a few DE razors, and have been enjoying shaving for the first time in years. Recently, I've been getting some serious straight razor envy though, looking at all the pictures of beautiful razors. Actually I think it was seeing a picture of a Zowada that did it. The instant thought that flashed into my head was "good gods, I want one of those!". Followed by the realization that I wouldn't know what to do with it, and the determination that perhaps it's time to learn (been kicking the idea around for years anyway).
So as it is, I have a decent overall shaving kit, but nothing even vaguely straight related yet. With my wedding coming up, can't get away with spending too much more lest the missus decide to cut me off completely. So I'll troll the classifieds here and other sites till I find a shave ready deal, get myself a beginner strop, and eventually I'm sure I'll be asking a billion questions. In the meantime, just wanted to introduce myself, and thank everyone for so readily sharing the wealth of knowledge here at SRP.
Cheers!

Welcome to SRP. Sounds like you're going to be starting off right, by educating yourself first. I probably don't need to tell you this, but just in case, take a look at the "Beginners Guide" and the FAQ and wiki in general:
Straight Razor Place Wiki:Books/Beginners Guide - Straight Razor Place Wiki
If you have any questions there's lots of help here to be found. Good luck!

Welcome to SRP. IME buying your toys before the wedding is probably a safer bet.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Hahahaha! That's what my friend said about a motorcycle, he had his before he got married. I've been married now 4 & 1/2 years and the wife consistently says "Not a chance in..."
