    Default Discoloration

Hey fellas. Just a quick question and possibly a stupid one. I haven't dealt with this old metal much before so bare with me! I have some discoloration on the tang where my fingers hold it. I was told it was a Torrey razor by the seller but the stamp is worn off. Seems legit though. The discoloration is dark but not quite black (hope that makes sense). I was able to get it off with some MAAS but after I handled it while stropping the discoloration was there again. It doesn't rub off with water so I am wondering if this is normal. What do yall think?

So far the only razors I have are two old ones honed up to shave ready. Both have some dark discoloration on the blade but are great shavers. Unless you are trying to make a show piece, I wouldn't worry about it.

What's your routine when putting it away after shaving? You might need to oil the blade between shaves. I found I needed to do that. I was rinsing and drying my blade well after use. OK, I didn't get out the blow dryer like I've heard some do, but spots would start forming between shaves on a couple of my new razors. Since then I've cleaned and dried them well and then coated them with a little oil. I've had no more stains since.
