Thanked: 0Ouch! At least it is sharp
Since I had been shaving a little closer together lately (Sunday afternoon and Monday morning), my stubble was quite low. So I decided to do just an XTG pass and a bit of ATG finishing on my chin.
The 'scything' movement did take away most of the stubble. Unfortunately I moved the blade just a tad too much longitudinally. Ouch. Just a few millimeters, and the knife immediately bit into my skin.
The wounds weren't too bad, just left a few red lines on my face, and one bleeder under my jaw that took some time to heal.
At least I know my blade is sharp.
And the BBS is getting there. Once I get the hang of removing the last bit of stubble on the point of my chin, my shaves will be perfect.
Enjoying this to the max.

Thanked: 20I have been getting a pretty close shave and last Thursday when I was shaving my upper lip and moved the blade a little laterally and got my upper lip. I immediately applied styptic and it still bled and bled. I've never bled like that before. After three applications of styptic I still bled for over half-an-hour. I have never had to apply tissue to a cut but I did several times. When the blood ran onto the under side of my lip, I made the dumb mistake of puffing it away...Dexter would have loved the blood splatters on the mirror, mirror frame, wall, and vanity. I know NOT to do that again. I am still avoiding that area when I shave, but it is finally healing up enough I can probably shave over it tomorrow or Thursday without opening it up again.

That really blows, cuts can suck. I do find out with me that really cold water stops the bleeding fast. I swung the razor around the other day in a moment of stupidity and nicked my neck close to the apple, phew !!

Thanked: 0Thanks for the tip, but it won't be necessary. I have an alum block, which has been doing stellar service for years (Ok, for at least half of those years I didn't shave at all).
That won't stop a real wound though, like the bleeder I had yesterday morning. But short of letting it close up naturally or stitching it up, nothing will stop a real wound from bleeding.

Try Vaseline petroleum jelly, a thin smear over the cut should stem the flow enough for you to finish the rest of your face and clean the bathroom, then a gentle wipe with Distilled Witch Hazel, and by the time the tears have dried (it stings) you stand a good chance of having a now dry cut, it works for Boxers, and TBH if you (all of us) have good enough motor neuro' skills to Str8 shave, then our reactions should easy be quick enough to ensure any cuts are very narrow, like the thickness of a razors edge.
Failing that and if you can get hold of it, Adrenaline will stop bleeding real fast, but it tends not to be something that you just have laying around

Did you skip WTG pass first?
