Thanked: 402Sorry Gugi, but not even my 8 k would do that.
(Don't have the 12 k)
Once its dull, its dull.

may be you use pastes on a strop with a give that round the edge?
i have no other explanation why you would need so coarse hones for a simple touch up. or your tolerance to dullness is much higher than mine.

I'm not a honemeister but he's ordered Chrome Ox and has a balsa wood strop. He said it was just "starting to pull." When that happens with mine, I just give it 10-20 laps on the Chrome Ox and I'm back in business. I would try that before sending it back for a hone. If it works for you, great. If not send it out.

Thanked: 402Well I get them in any condition, Gugi.
Since I don't use them I neither dull them not do I need tolerance at all.
I just see that I can't fix much with such a fine hone.

Well now I'm curious. Maybe I just needed to do more laps on the 12k. I only did 20.

50 laps later... it's a little better but not by much. I'm shipping to Lynn today.
