Default JOHN Elliot's Patent Frame Back Razor?

Hello, all, new guy here. I recently found a razor marked "John Elliot's Patent Frame Back" with a crown with a "V" and an "R" on either side of it. The blade has a brass back on it much like a back saw used in woodworking. The handles appear to be horn and this razor has an early to mid-19th century look to it. I have searched the web trying to find a John Elliot who was a maker, but can only find a Joseph, George and William Elliots. Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks and cheers, Bob

I see you are new. Welcome! I'm new too and I love this place.

But about your razor. I don't know anything about it. But it sounds like a good looking piece of craftsmanship. Care to post some picture?

Here are a couple of photos. This was found in an old tool chest along with some old woodworking tools.

I've got one, though I've never finished honing it so I can't say much about how they shave.

There is definitely some potential in that razor. Maybe some new scales, some metal polish, and a good hone. Beautiful.

The "V R" with the crown means the razor was made during the reign of Queen Victoria .

Those framebacks with those brass (?) frames are a beautiful thing indeed. The contrast somehow clicks for me. But so far I've only seen them coming from Sweden. Nice piece.
