    Default Newb saying hello!

    Hi, I'm "dmpljim" and brand new to straight razor shaving. I just bought a new Dovo Shavette which I just started using to learn the proper 'angle of the dangle, a new Dovo Black Star 5/8 with red Pakawood scales, a well made Soligen 5/8 razor to practice honing/sharpening with which looks like N.O.S., a 2 in 1 hone which looks to be maybe a 4000/8000 brown/white, and a Badger brush with a mug and some decent soap which I like. I also just ordered Lynn's DVD and have seen a few bites on YOUTUBE to get me started.

    Welcome to SRP. If that Solingen razor is as nice as you say, maybe you should get another razor to practice on. Just a thought. If you post some pictures of your hone someone may be able to tell you what it is. It would be good to know which grits you have, before starting to hone. Sounds like you're getting a nice kit together. Do you have a strop yet?
