Thanked: 0Sayin' hi, have a question!
Hello, SRP community. I'm Eric and I wanted to introduce myself. I've very recently been fascinated with straight razor technique and tradition, ever since while traveling received one from a very talented Russian barber in Brooklyn. It was the best shave I've had in my life. What a confidence booster, as well!
A dear friend of mine gave me a razor which I found in your database. I hope the code pastes correctly:
Fields Data Manufacturer Wostenholm, George & Son Region Sheffield, England Date Unspecified Size 6/8 Point Square Shoulder 1 stabilizer Jimps None Scales Unknown Steel Carbon
I'm both curious and fascinated. I was trying to figure out what the handle was made out of and approximately when it was manufactured. If any of the community members know, I'd greatly appreciate the help.
My plan was to send it off to a professional to get it cleaned, honed and shave ready, so I can start with a properly set up blade, before I begin to learn the actual shaving technique. I'll continue to read the forums so I can learn.
Just wanted to say hi, folks. Take care!
I took a few photos which can be viewed here:

At first Welcome to SRP. photo's isn't clear enough to say exactly what handles made of but i would go head say seems like they are bone handles.
I agree that blade needs to be clean up and sharpened. you will need strop and some soap, brush. after that you are good to go.
have fun

Welcome to SRP.Nice Wostenholm 'pipe' you have there.Since you've seen the data base you've obviously been into the SRP Wiki. Plenty of tutorials and videos accessible in there to get you off on the right foot with straight razor shaving. Feel free to ask questions if you have any.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Get 'er cleaned and honed and you're on your way to a great shave!
