    Default For the beginners

    I was told that there is a clear shave gel that can be bought so as to see what we noobs are doing?.....and to use the shaving soap when comfortable enough and farmiliar enough when first starting to shave?

    Yes, there are a number of companies that offer clear (Jack Black, etc.) or non-foaming, almost clear (Aveda, etc.). If you use plenty of hot water and give it enought time to soften the beard, then using water only will work (but probably not a good idea for novices).

    I don't know what exactly is needed to be seen. You need to stay away from your ears and nose, but they should be pretty visible when not covered with lather.
    It is far more important to have ood beard preparation than be able to see your skin. In fact, in my opinion, the later is completely useless.

    I agree. You don't watch you skin as you shave. You watch the razor and your grip and the angle and all that. Once you are experienced its pretty much automatic really. By then you just need to focus.

    As said from me too
    also there is just soo much feedback coming from the feel of the blade, the noise it makes cutting whiskers, etc etc
    Good prep is VITAL imho.
