Thanked: 199Welcome to the SR ranks!
Sending it to Lynn was an excellent choice. He will get it good and sharp for you to shave with for quite a while
One of the reasons I switched was to save money as well, but honestly, unless you have an iron clad will, that won't happen.
I have picked up SEVERAL razors, hones, and other various items, and I'm afraid to think about the grand total to date LOL
You might want to google any vaccines for RAD and HAD (Razor Acquisition Disorder and Hone Acquisition Disorder)
Seriously tho, welcome!

Thanked: 2Well thanks! I totally understand about RAD and HAD. I tend to do the same thing with anything i get into. I am going to try my best not to with this. We'll see what happens. I will eventually want to get a hone becuase i will have to learn that skill for routine maintenance. I also want to make sure i am able to successfully shave before investing any more in this.

HAHA!!! That's what we all say at first.
That being said, I am only a few weeks in and I have already made my own scales and picked up about 10 razors off the bay to play with.

Thanked: 259welcome. you will find that shaving is more enjoyable when you get the hang of it and you probably will never go back to disposable junk again. like the others have said, make sure it is honed and shave ready, lynn is great at getting it right. also what the others have said about buying more razors is true as far as i am concerned, because i seem to be buying at least 2 or 3 each month. it is an interesting hobby and in general is not all that expensive, but it can get to be if you get RAD badly enough.....good luck

Might be fun just so you can compare it to a properly honed edge when you get it back from the honemeister. Note, there is a huge difference between being able to shave hair and shaving the hair with no skin discomfort... once you get a full BBS shave without any skin irritation, you'll never go back...
