    Default scuttle ???

i have been using a mug and soap puck ( d.r.harris) and when i make lather on my face for the first pass its nice and hot, because i soak the brush in hot water. but the second pass with the brush is cold. so is the purpose of a scuttle for only creams? and do you put the scuttle in the sink with the hot water? or do i have to get a scuttle sink, ha ha. and also who sells them. thanks

    Google for makers:
    dirty bird pottery
    Georgetown scuttles
    moss scuttle

Those are the big guns - Xmas will hopefully bring one for me

I am sure others will respond with more experienced why's and why nots to choose a scuttle versus a brush warmer etc.

I have been using the small Moss scuttle by Sara Bonnyman here. I'm really happy with mine. It is designed to keep the brush and lather warm .... not to make lather in... It does what it was designed for very well. SRD is coming out with some new scuttles shortly and I would wait and see what they look like before I went for a Moss. The postage cost me almost a third as much as the scuttle coming from Nova Scotia.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I got a regular sized scuttle from Dirty Bird Pottery and couldn't be happier with it. I use it with soaps, creams and both together and find the grooves in the side really help when generating lather. It keeps my lather toasty warm for three full passes and a head shave.

I got the 1.5 size scuttle from Dirty Bird and it is really great. Deep bowl that hold a lot of lather, and big enough outer vessel for a lot of hot water.

I completely agree the only difference is that I have the large size.

I use a Schwarzweisskeramik scuttle, and it works great. They are made by a guy named Ansgar. You can get them here http://www.schwarzweisskeramik.de/eindex.html

    Hi Nessmuck,

You can also dribble a bit of hot water into the base of the brush and work up a bit more lather, which would then be warm again. This works well if you face lather. But if you like to build a lot of lather in a bowl or something like that the scuttle should be the way to go.
