    Default Dealing with skin imperfections?

Afternoon all, just found this fourm, and I'm glad I did. I realize now I have a lot more to learn than I realized.

One thing I didn't find however when searching around, was what you do to deal with skin blemishes? Unfortunatley I inherited my fathers skin, and at the age of 26, I still deal with zits and blackheads on an ocasional basis. Is there an art to working around or over them? With my Mach 3 I can just run over them usually without incident, but I'd be a little more concerned with a straight.

    Help?

Don't run over them (at least not at normal speed)! I made that mistake once or twice already (I'm 20 so its still a minor problem). I basically just lose all pressure when I get near a rough patch and skim as lightly as possible over the skin. A super sharp razor will still trim the hairs, but it won't take off that lump of skin either.

Seems to work for me at least.

I have a scar on my chin that I used to nick occasionally when I was relatively new.
These days it's mostly one spot at the corner of my moustache that's I would nick on ATG if I'm not careful. It's an old nick that the razor catches on. It's small, 1mm or so and I don't notice it at all, but the edge manages to find it.

I'm 21 and have problems with zits and blackheads.

I thoroughly wet my face with warm water and/or hot towel which tends to open pores. Then I use lighter grind razor (full hollow) because it adapts to the bumps on the skin due to it's thickness and it doesn't tend to cut right through the zit.

Of course, light pressure on the razor is imperative in this situations.

as a dermatologist on this forum mentioned, the use of an alum block on a damp face helps. even when not shaving, after washing.
i too tend to have trouble skin, but I've found that when I settle in with one routine for shaving for a while, my complexion improves. all the jumping around to fragrances soaps and creams was just confusing my face.
