Thread: new shaving with a straight

Ok here I am at my fathers house and have been telling him how great a straight razor shave is and I have three different razors here he planning on trying it. But he watches me and try as he will can not get it to shave his beard off at all just makes noise. What are we doing wrong? he is shaving at about the same angle as I am and useing the same razor. He is straching the skin also. How every he can get a shave out of a mach three. Need help I have about eight days until I go home.

Go back to the WIKI read the stuff for beginners and the section on shaving. Remember if his face is new to straights it takes some getting use to. Also, his beard may be tougher than yours. Anyway, start slow use proper beard prep take it slow. Perfection doesn't come in a day.

Hmm, why don't you try to shave a small area for him. I realize you're rather new, but your hand knows how it feels. You'll be missing the other half of the feedback from your face.

Or try on your arm first and then on his arm.

Just throwing out ideas, I don't know why he is having trouble.
