Talking Newbie With a new razor, too Elite? thoughts?

    Hello,

I just bought a straight out of spite for a cheap $10 Walmart magnum 5 blade DC razor because one of the blades came loose while shaving and needless to say was a fun day. :P Is the razor I bought Too Pro for a beginner such as my self? Here is the link,

Pre-Sharpened Dovo Silver Steel Straight Razor & Leather Case, Ebony Scales, 5/8"

I got a strop and hone stone as well, synthetic brush for $9.00 and soap.

Sweet! First off, welcome! Second, love your choice. I keep looking at that one, but can't spend the money right now. i think it's great. You could have picked up one from the classifieds for less, but you won't regret the choice IMO.

I'm sure you'll be happy with the razor. my first (and still only) razor is almost exactly the same but mine has the spike point.

^That. I have 2 NOS Wapis on the way, and I'm thinking a Bismark may be in my future, but I also want to try and get a nice vintage Puma.

    Default Elite Blade

I'm new to this too, but yes, that is definitely out of your league. You should just mail it to me... Awesome buy; you will love it! I'm using an old Artist right now, and may never change if it keeps working, but Dovo is what I'll buy if I ever get a brand new one.

Welcome to SRP. Looks like you purchased yourself a nice first razor. If you haven't taken a look at the Beginner's Guide before your first shave, here's the link for it.

My first str8, which I bought over 2.5 yrs ago was a dovo. The model I bought has gone up significantly in price so no, you didn't over do it.

I have the same razor in my rotation and it works well for me, I am new to str8s also, this was the razor I used for my 2nd shave you will enjoy it, I haven't used it in a while because I keep getting more and want to try the new ones, but it is an excellent shaver!
