    Being from Australia I had always known them as a "cut throat." It wasn't until i really started to research about cut throat shaving that i stumbled upon the name Straight Razor and the amount of products and searches that came up compared to cut throat was amazing. Glad i'm not alone!

    Hmm, Sweeny Todd does go back to the 1840's (String of Pearls) and there's contention as to an urban myth before that.

    yeah, i live in australia, and when i was off to buy my first straight i went to a retailer and asked for one by the name "Straight Razor" and nobody in the store knew what i was talking about, till somebody said, "OH! Do you mean a Cut-Throat?"

    so, in answer to your question, either way is right, but some people are ignorant
