Thanked: 0strops and stuff
Hi all and thank you so much for putting together such a fine shaving website! I've been enjoying it all morning learning the ropes of my new interest. For example, I learned that the Kriegar 2 3/4 inch curved blade my wife picked up on Ebay is basically a real nice paperweight and from what I'm reading it seems like Pakistan is not the place to go for shaving products. I just got a strop from Ebay also, and there's no manufacturer info on it anywhere except for the "Made In Pakistan" sticker on the sleeve. It's black leather and tan canvas. I was hoping to find some helpful strop-shopping info like I found for buying razors in the FAQ section but it doesn't seem to be up yet. I did find a review that said Zeepk strops are crap, but what are some good ones? Is there a world of difference between Pakistani-made strops and other leathers? Do I need to toss my strop in the garage along with my Kriegar, or can I make use of it? Thanks again fellas, and these instructional videos are awesome!

i was under the impression that as long as the stop had a smooth feel (no bumps) it shouldnt do any damage
the canvas can probably be used as that seems harder to mess up (not saying it cant be done)
i hav a canvas shedding lint and making bumps of it so i guess thats a no go
dont take my word for it i just havnt had time to mess up badly yet

Just what i needed! Thank you, I'll pass this link along. Is this info on the website someplace? If not, it would make a great addition to a great site. i can't wait to ditch the disposables forever.

Thanked: 0Yeah, my leather is a little bumpy, and the canvas doesn't look like it would last long.
