[QUOTE=Richard;481802]Another trick is to work up your lather in a bowl and then float it in a sink of hot water while you shower. This will warm the lather nicely.

Nice trick, I think I'll try that.

Thanked: 2Well, so far so good.
The lather is definitely nice and warm, but not too hot. I am going to go ahead and say this was successful. However, I will still probably request some sort of moss scuttle for Christmas or my birthday, just to have the option of using that also.
For those on a budget, or that travel and want to keep their packing to a minimum, a candle warmer for $4 can keep a mug full of lather nice and warm throughout your shave.

The lather will be warm going on, but it's not going to stay that way on your face as you've learned. What I do, it Lather up, strop, Then apply a hot towel to face over the lather, then re lather, then shave. This gives the warm lather time to penetrate. I've used my Hot Lather rig for some time now, with no brush damage. I've pulled the brush out of there and it's been Hot....I was worried, but there is no visable damage or feel to the brush...I wouldn't recommend leaving it in there for an extended period of time.

Thanked: 2I used to go shower, lather in bowl, warm towel, lather on face, strop, warm towel on face, lather on face, and then shave. But I've cut out a few steps. Maybe I'll go back to doing that though. That is how they did it at Truefitt and Hill when I got a shave there this summer.

Possible danger I haven't seem mentioned: You have an electrical device plugged in while shaving. I, for one, tend to throw around at least a little water while shaving. I'm not saying its the equivalent of a toaster in the bath tub, but I feel like there is potential to harm your electrical device.
Just a though.

Thanked: 2Yeah, I'd say it's just like any electrical appliance in the bathroom, be careful, and don't drop it in a full sink or tub.

Thanked: 2The candle warmer definitely works. It does start to dry out the lather if you shave slowly like I do, but this isnt' a problem if you put a little more water in each time and swirl the brush a few seconds. I do this anyway because I want my lather more and more slippery as I go from WTG, XTG, to ATG.
I still want a scuttle, just to be old school, but for anyone wanting hot lather, a candle wamer for $4 does the job.
