Leather Razor Pouch
I was surfing on ClassicShaving - looking for replacement scales - when I came across the leather, Buckskin pouch to hold a 7 day set.
$149.00???
Ouch.
Now, not to criticize this man's work, and no doubt they're better than what I've made but I couldn't see spending it.
Here's my daily use pouch
Here's my seven day holder
And since I've already gone past these in RAD here's a 24 razor pouch.
The buckskin I've used was braintanned by myself a few years ago. Check out braintan.com for the process used to do this. VERY labor intensive.
Hmmmmm. I wonder what mine would be worth?

Ooohhh, an OUCH for me? Probably. But consider this.
According to the braintan website a single hide will run between $180 and $252. It takes about 1/3 of a hide for a 7 razor set.
The same buckskin from Tandy Leather Factory is about $75.
Then there's the labor.
So the leather value is around $25.00 for the $149.00 professionally made pouch. And it does look to be excellent quality. Machine sewn with buckle straps.
Mine is valued around $60.00 for the leather and is hand sewn with buckskin lacing (cut from the same hide) and held closed with the same buckskin lacing. No "artificial ingredients".
The 24 razor set took most of a full hide. It could probably have been made to hold 30 but I wanted 2 dozen.
I laid my 24 on a three different Tandy hides I have and 2 of them would have made a 24+ pouch quite easily. The third looked to be a #2 hide based on the number of holes.
But that leather is intended for a "princess indian dress" for my daughter.
I may have to consider offering to make pouches (if anyone is interested - hint, hint) but I won't be asking for anything as crass as money (yuck). I want razors. Shave ready, shinny, lovely, razors.
Like I said, I got RAD something awful.
