I've used the same badger brush for 11 years now and I haven't cleaned it once.

Maybe I'm missing something but; aren't you cleaning it with soap and water every time you use it?

+1 to TheBaron, I think unless you're not rinsing the soap out after using it each time, you probably won't have to clean it very much, if at all.

After I'm done with shaving, I let mine soak in some warm water for a minute or two, then run it around my scuttle like I was whipping up some suds, give it a light squeeze and a couple shaves, and set it aside to dry

I clean my rotation (vinegar) every other month as a preventative measure and I've never had a problem.

My routine is very similar to Avatar's1999, only difference is I squize rinsed brush and shake it before putting to dry

The bottom line is to ensure your brush is thoroughly washed out each time you use it and that way you won't have to worry about cleaning it. Once soap residue gets in mixed with minerals in the water and it all kind of congeals then you have problems.

I wash my brushes in borax 1x a year just for GPs but they really don't need it.
