Thanked: 3Storing a strop?
Hi all,
I'm getting really into SR shaving,
but I live together with some other ppl (read: students),
the annoying thing is, they touch all my stuff, my razors, my strop etc.
quite frankly I absolutely hate them doing this.
I tell and keep telling them please not to touch my stuff, they remember for 2 days and then seem to forget.
I'm storing my razors in a sort of bedside table now,
My question: can you safely store a strop in this same manner in a bedside table or should it be hanging up ? I know this is not an ideal situation.
Thanks for any advice,
I just can't bare the thought someone damaging my strop (including myself, since it's a nice vintage strop with a lot of emotional value to me)Last edited by joshDHM; 11-09-2009 at 02:23 PM.

Lucky for me my apartment (also a student) has locking bedrooms. If you have a closet, try attaching the strop to a hanger and moving it to the corner of the closet. Then it is always ready to use, just pull it out and hang it up, then replace when done.
Oh, and beat your roommates. I went to boarding school and I'm not a junior in college, so I know how bad they can be.
Good luck
Drew

Thanked: 3they're also in my closet, however I will give them a beating for sure,
it's basically what we do all day tho
I might try hanging it on the wall so when my door is open it's behind the door and not in eyesight,
other than that I don't have much space to hang it
however I just noticed when I use this method, when my door is closed and the curtains are up
my strop will be hanging in direct sunlight, I got a feeling that's not too good
thanks for the advice tho!Last edited by joshDHM; 11-09-2009 at 03:01 PM.

If you want to be really sneaky, you could always hang it behind a cupboard or headboard on the side closest to the wall for storage. That way its out of the sunlight too.

Or you could stash the valuable strop away somewhere and switch to paddle/loom strop for the duration of your coexistence. Or stash it under the pillow, mattress, hook behind the bed etc. Or get a locked medicine cabinet or something.
