Thanked: 0New member
Hello,
my name is Alex and I have used disposable razors. There I said it, after all the first step to recovery is acceptance of your issue. I can't stand shaving with these things. Straight razors have been appealing for a while now and I am finally ready to make the change. After reading about 'the shave' I don't think it will be a dissapointment. I do quite a bit of woodworking and some of the custom razors and replaced scales have really caught my eye: here comes another hobby. I look forward to learning new things on this sight, and have already got a taste for the helpfull people here.

I like yourself just started using a straight razor and I love it. I'll never go back to the disposables ever. There is a learning curve but hey that's half the fun! Welcome to the forum.

Thanked: 259welocme,
you find that straight shaving is an experience will love and you will look forward to each and every shave..do not be afraid to ask questions. just like the last post there is a learning curve, do not get discouraged. you may have minor setbacks, but nothing you will not overcome. we all started out just like you. read the wiki here on getting started and ask questions.
make sure the straight you get is a shave ready blade. this is the most important thing to start with, since it gives you something to judge all your shaves by. also it helps if you start to learn to hone your own razors having something to reference..good luck

Thanked: 39Welcome to a great place, from one newbie to another. Just had my 9th st8 razor shave and finally have achieved about a DE shave, quite a milestone for me. I'm having a blast!
Read all the wikis and watch the videos. Ask questions. Have fun. Everyone else sure is!

Welcome to SRP. I used Gillette Good News disposables for thirty years. Straights are wayyyy better. You'll be glad once you get the learning curve behind you.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
