a basic(?) question
okay - I have a brand new shavette that I am learning with and the pivot point between the blade and the tang (?) has just this morning become very much looser, it seems to me this will increase the danger level associated with shaving in such a manner. Any ideas or suggestions on how to tighten up that pivot point? It does not appear to be any type of screw mechanism at that joint but simply a metal joint pivot?

Here is an old thread addressing the question. You have to put one side against a solid surface... anvil, vise... and tap the pin gently with a small hammer or a large tablespoon. Carefully or you can crack the scales or bend the pin rather than peen it.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I had no luck with tablespoon peening, & had to return to a good old hammer. It does indeed seem to work for some though.
