    Default Torrey "Our 136" question

I just picked up a Torrey "Our 136" and since I am new to SRs I am unable to tell if it has been repinned. The blade is about an inch shorter than the scales. To me it does not appear to be repinned, but I don't understand why the blade would not match the scales. Or, is that the way they were made? I have pictures of it in my photo album in my profile. Thanks for your input.

I am actually un-believably holding two Torrey 136's in my hands right now that were just sent to me for repairs and honing...

The blade contour is identical but it looks like somebody put a different set of scales on yours... pins also look totally different these are solid heads on the front and very very tiny lock washers on the back..

Here are the measurements on these two...

    Scales OAL = 145 mm

Blade cutting edge = 70 mm

    Blade OAL = 74 mm

    Razor OAL = 152 mm

Pin center to Pin center = 124 mm

    Hope that helps

I have two Torrey "Our 136" razors. One is in scales from ivory imitation, one in black Bakelite. The black scales are more rounded and 3/16'' longer than the ivory ones, but as the blades are drilled differently, both razors measure 9'' from the tip of the tail to the end of the scales.

I really like the blade on this one, but from the info I received it must have been re-scaled. Also, the "Our 136" is barely visible. I only noticed it after doing a little polishing. I may use this blade for my first rescale project. Maybe I can get my hands on some ebony.

Some site sells ebony scales for ~$30. I want to say it's classic shaving?
