New here
Hi all, wanted to introduce myself. My name is Andrew and I was introduced to both straight razors and this site by a member who I know from another forum. I had my 1st shave with a DE last night while waiting for the strop I orded from RR to arrive. Last night was probably the best shave I've had since I started shaving back in HS. I know there is going to be a learning curve with both the DE as well as the straight but I'm really looking forward to it.

Thanked: 39Welcome from another newbie, though I've been around a month now. You will like it here. Lots of great people with lost of experience and advise.
Recommend you read all the wikis and watch the videos, that will get you a good start. I did me.I started with DE and vowed never to go back to my electric shaver. Now I'm shaving with straight shavers and find that I have finally found a home!
Enjoy the journey!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I think last night may have been a bout of beginers luck. I'm sure the more I do it (and screw something up) the more questions I'll have for y'all. That wiki section is great + all the references to Mantic's youtube videos.

Thanked: 96Straights are surprisingly simple to learn if you don't mind a little soreness for the first week or two.
Welcome and goodluck.

Welcome!
Advice from someone who switched from a DE to a straight: I recommend using mainly the DE until you get really good at making great lather. A DE is definitely more forgiving with poor lather than a straight.
