Is this comparable to a barber hone?
Hi guys, not sure if this is the right forum for this but as a newbie I think it can fit here. I'm considering getting this: eBay item # 360211941367. Anyone have one, or an opinion on them? Are they any good? Any info would help this newb. Got my razor: gold dollar from jreiter22, TM old school and practice strop on the way getting ready to put it to the skin. Thanks for everything so far, keep the info coming please.

Thanked: 151It will work, but its slow. The slurry is great to use with it because it speeds up the pace. I would spend on the Naniwa 12K because it is more consistent. I used to use that natural.
Perhaps it would be better to start with it and move up to the Naniwa or the Shapton 16K which is my next step.
Remember, no pressure and take your time. Read the wiki too because there is a lot of info on stones etc there already.
Good Luck!

Thanked: 96It's a finer grit than most barber stones would be. Also it's quite slow for it's grit from what I heard. I expect it would work, but would require more passes than a barber.
It's used as a finishing stone by quite a few around here since it's apparently very good for the price.
