Thread: How Many Razors Do Newbies have?

I have two that belonged each of my grandfathers, however only one of them is shaving. I have purchased two more and am aiming for 7, one for each day of the week.

Interesting thing, I shaved with all three to compare them just the other day.

I have yet to receive any of my razors, so I'm definitely a newbie. I've got two on the way; one was my great grand father's and the other was his father's. I picked up a third that's on it's way for honing up on my honing/stropping skills--I wouldn't want to risk screwing up one of the other two. And finally I'm picking up one from whipped dog so I a) have one I can shave with, b) have a standard to judge my honing skills against.

So, I'm starting out with four, but two came out of the woodwork free to me.

Well, I just started straight razors shaving and ordered my Boker from Ebay, however since it had cracked scale, I decided on ordering a Horn replacement. Currently restoring a blade and will post few pictures ASAP. Cant wait.

and a red imp coming in the mail

so I guess 4

I've been d/e shaving for a little over a year, and just started getting serious about straights. I consider myself still a total newb. I have around 50 safety razors, 14 straights and a couple of shavettes. I have a little case of the RAD.

Started near the middle of November, So I still consider myself a bit new still. But I seem to have a serious case of RAD if this trend continues

Edit: BTW my Disposable straight is not pictured and I have another somewhere in the mail. I am also keeping my eye out for a good deal on a Stainless steel blade.

When I started I got two. In case I damaged one, I would have another. Now, about 60.

i have been shaving with DE for a while, and did my first straight shave last night
i have 9 straights, at least 3 need restoration though
