I have only been at it for a few months and I have five. I started with a round point then I wanted to get a spike for my edge ups, now all I plan on having is spikes. I am going to give one to my cousin for christmas, and I plan on selling my Frederick Reynolds. So i will have three, two for shaving and one to learn to hone with! But I might get more, I want to find that perfect shaver for me.

At the moment I only have a J.R. Torrey (graciously sent to me by a fellow member here) but I just ordered a Dovo so I'll have 2 by next week.

I had one for the first week. Then there were 2. I left them alone in a dark cabinet for a few nights and then there were more....and more......and more...........................

So Many Razors so little time!
Well.. I didn't start out this way but I guess I'm collecting straight razors.. I meant to learn to shave with one.. however.. as yet... I have not shaved and... over the past 6 weeks I believe have collected a total of 10 razors.. First I bought one from an antique store and it wasn't much good I found out after doing some reading... then I bought another one from an antique store because it came in a nice box!! and... it wasn't very good eirther... I read some more and decided I needed a "shave ready"... I asked a seller on ebay a question about how he prepared his razors to be "shave ready" and he gave me lots of information and his phone number if I had questions...I did...so I called him and eventually ordered a very nice shave ready razor from his website....He sent me another razor for free so that I could compare the shave of different razors.. These guys are honest, generous and extrememly helpful... I have personally never experienced this kind of behavior....However,... during this time I had to travel out of town and have not been back for some time... So while I was not being able to shave... I kept looking here and there for other great deals on straight razors.. one thing led to another and here I am.. 10 Straight razors... some really nice... I finally learned after lots of help and 100's of questions.. how to evaluate a razor. Last razor I bought was a Anton Wilgen Red Point off ebay with some rust and tarnish to restore and enter the newbie contest on SRP.. What can I say... I'm hooked.. I think I have enough for a while...but I'll be buying what I need to restore and eventually to hone.. Still haven't shaved yet... going home next week and will be able to get my shaving purchases.. Let you know how it goes.. Maq

Straight razor is similar to virus.
It will go in to You and start to spreading around month by month. Some people has a strong immunity and could stop while just own 2 SR. Others(including me) has a weak Immunity. As a result it doesn't stop spreading. One day you wake up and counting them 20 next time 40 and after while 100. so on
GOOD LUCK

I was gifted two back in april from my wife for my birthday. I have a Co. Conk "Sonlingen" that shaved okay once I get it honed. And the other is a Paul Jones that my wife picked up at an antique shop for like 20 bucks because she thought i would like the handle (and I love it). I had it honed and as i get better at stropping and shaving it seems to shave nicer and nicer. Hopefully santa's gonna bring me some hones for Christmas and I can ease my way into the trade, but all things come in time.....
