    Welcome to SRP.

There are, in my opinion, three things to consider:

    1. What makes a good starter razor? See Frequently Asked Questions - Straight Razor Place Wiki for a possible answer. 6/8 is a good choice, but you might want to get a 5/8 and a 6/8 to find out which size you prefer.
    2. Where to source the razors, and what to look for? Shopping list for beginners - Straight Razor Place Wiki should have a few pointers, especially with respect to the Classifieds.
    3. Our list of good and - in our opinion - bad razors.

At the time of writing, and because of the free liftetime honing option, I would get a 5/8 and 6/8 Dovo "Best Quality" each. If you do not need the honing, get something from the classifieds, preferably a stiffer grind and a hollow one. There are quite a few nice ones up for sale at the moment. Just take a bit of time browsing the site to find out if the seller actually knows what he is doing.

Happy hunting, and keep us updated.

    Regards,
    Robin
