Thanked: 530Wait... They live /where/?!
I wasn't sure where to put this, so I dropped it in here:
So, I went to the post office near Sharon Center in Sharon, OH, and, as I was weighing the box, the office worker asked what it was. I told her I was shipping a strop out to another member, and she asked me if I meant for straight razors. When I said yes, she told me that a lot of razors passed through her mail office for sharpening... I figured there was a honemeister near me (which would be amazing) and she said it was a place called Straight Razor Designs... Amazed I went to their site... The operate out of Medina, OH... Less than 30 minutes from my house!
Needless to say, I sent an e-mail to the "contact us" address, cordially, and devotedly, requesting a tour of the location and, if at all possible, some one on one time with a honer -If I can, I intend to bring my razor and strop, and have someone show me correct technique/help me improve. And, even better, give me a basic intro to Honing, so it isn't all trial by fire.
It's probably unlikely that they will acquiesce to this, but if they do, that would be so cool Heres to hoping!

That would be Lynn, founder of this fine website and by all accounts an outstanding gentleman.

Never know your luck!
It's a busy time of year though, so it may be that if Lynn does get the chance to give you a one on one honing lesson, it will be the other side of Christmas.
It would be a valuable experience if you're keen to learn.

It was really fun reading your post knowing that you had no idea who you were contacting.
I can only imagine the look on your face when you started reading responses and realized who you contacted.

It's a great Sushi place in Wadsworth where they serve very good Tako (octopus) among other things. The Owner/Chef sometimes prepares the food with a Maestro Livi knife.
