Thanked: 96I'd just wait. Hell it's almost Xmas, if you get one here the post office may not even GET it to you before Xmas.

If you are sure you are getting a razor for Christmas, congrats if you already have RAD, go ahead and order another razor since you will anyway in the near future. A 2nd razor is a good thing. It begins a rotation which means less wear on 1, and it also gives you a backup just in case something was to happen to the first. New Years is just around the corner so if you feel a little RAD guilt you could always resolve to keep it under control in 2010.(Like that would work)

LOL Santa is hopefully bringing me a razor, but I have already bought another two. I figure if I don't get one for Christmas,I am still set. If I do get one, I have back up.

I mean- just look at it as getting a razor for xmas is a razor you didn't buy.
Hypothetically, lets ignore Xmas:
Would you buy that new razor you have your eye on? At some point yes. You buy it and are out $x.
Bring Crhistmas back into the picture:
You bought that nice razor. You're now out $x. Someone gave you another nice razor. Now you have two razors, and you're still only out $x.
You're no better or worse off- you just get a free razor with Xmas. The only case I would think of is if getting a free razor meant you weren't gonna buy another anyway (and VERY VERY few people here have only 1 razor).

Yeah, I kinda had the same problem.
And I cured it by ordering this little beauty today from our Mr Crowley over at Shavingshop.com...!
Ok, ok, I know Christmas is coming, but I've had my eye on it for ages so I just figured go for it. What can I say? I have RAD..!
And now I'm actually going to stop buying razors.......
.............
........
....
Until I see the next one I like anyways..!

Thanked: 39You should have more than one razor. All you need to do is what I did: let my razor slip from my fingers and have it slide down the sink and smack the edge on the drain riser! I was fortunate that I picked up another razor to finish my shave. The straight required another honing.
I've read other newbies like myself (and some experienced shavers as well) accidentally smack their blade on the faucet, thus requiring another honing. It happens.
So, to avoid risk for what (to me) is the inevitable event, buy a second razor. Now, armed with this bit of knowledge, go forth and allow your RAD to take over using this new insight to justify the action! :-)

The only answer that makes sense to me is "just do it".
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Buy the one you want for the reasons mentioned above. Having chipped a razor earlier this year I was glad to have a spare while regrinding and honing my primary blade.
Also consider this, if your family is like my family(with exception of my wife), they will present you with a zeepk or similar razor. Not out of spite mind you but due to them not knowing any better.
