Thread: Introduction

Hi everybody, my name is Georges, I am new to straight razor shaving. I bought my first razor and hone from ebay. The razor is a "Dovo special 6/8 tortoise imitation" that came shave ready with perfect edge, the hone is a Norton 4K/8K. I ordered my strop from Tony http://www.shop.thewellshavedgentleman.com as I was looking for a highly recommended product.

I used the "Dovo Shavete with the personna 2.5'' blades for quite a long time so I did not face any problems in adapting to the 6/8 cut throat and that was a complete new enjoyable experience. I watched some youtube videos about honing and stropping and I feel now that my technique is getting better and better, as one time I got a chip in my blade and I manged to fix it perfectly with my Norton hone. I did not get to the shaprness of the shavette blade yet but I'm well satisfied with my results so far.

Now I am planning to get the American "Hart Steel" razor, I wanna try the 6/8 quarter hollow ground that I think will suit more my hard beard.

Welcome to SRP. Let us know how you like the Hart after a few shaves. I've been thinking about one of those too.
