That's all you need. Anything else is just because you've developed an addiction.

yeah it's $10 more than ordering the fili strop. i think for the $10 extra additional fabric component as well as real hardware are well worth, but it's good to stick to your budget too.

You talked me into it, just emailed to cancel and replace it tomorrow. Another enabler.

Don't worry.. It's well worth it. SRD makes QUALITY, plain and simple. It almost can't be beat -for less than a small fortune, as far as I'm concerned, it can't be beat at all-

But they will also fuel the addiction, believe you me... It is coming, oh, Lord have mercy, it is coming.

yeah i looked at exactly this yesterday since somebody had the same question, so i already knew the answer.
it's an important extra functionality you're buying, not just looks, which is why i think it's almost a no brainer if it's within the budget.

How much have you budgeted for your straight razor set?

What you have listed in your shopping sounds pretty good to me. You can always upgrade on the brush. IMHO, however, the straight razor set from SRD that may at first appear to be cost prohibitive will pay you real dividends in the long run.

For example, I found Lynn Abrams' "World of Straight Razor Shaving" that can be ordered as part of a Dovo 6/8" blond set invaluable as an instructional tool. I played it several times, especially the chapter on shaving, several times after Christmas. It gave me the knowledge that I needed as a newbie and the confidence to put that sharp blade against my face.

Now I can hardly wait to shave with my new straight razor tomorrow.

    Best wishes...
