    Default First shave

Just had my first (leg) shave with the Gold Dollar 208 jreiter22 honed for me. Have some creams coming from CarrieM, but used some Rosewood shave soaps from Connaught Shaving this time around.

Initial reaction is that I need some practice to get a closer shave, but WOW, why on earth doesn't everyone know about these? The soaps in particular are just SO much better than anything I've ever tried before.

    Happy now.

Glad my boyfriend wanted a straight and started me doing Christmas research... (And he loves his, too!)

good job Have you got your eye on anymore razors for backup yet?

My wife often uses the tube creams that don't require a brush for lathering as it's faster, but when I shave her I like to use a good soap

Not yet! Once I get the hang of it, I'll probably get another, though. One thing I'm glad about is the fact that I got a round point...I got the boy a spike point, and he's already managed to take a chunk out of his cheek with it, lol.

I feel kind of bad that my gift is mutilating him these first few tries, but he's super happy to have it, so *shrugs.*

Thanks! I'm sure I will. I wanted to hold off and have my first shave with the creams from you, but I wanted in on the fun sooner, lol.

I am actually a bit surprised they aren't there yet, They went out of Dec 14th. I may have to see if I can get tracking info in them for you.

    Raine,
The gift of an enjoyable shave is the best gift one can ever give another. I'm glad to hear that you and your Gent are going about the learning period together. On a similar note, I got my brother a DE for Christmas, and hopefully he may get suckered into getting some enjoyment out of shaves. If i may ask, did you jump from Cartridge to straight or did you have some experience with DE before starting?

I went directly to a straight. Did a test today for my second shave, did one leg with a straight and one leg with my old disposable. Results are about the same, but the nice soap the side done with the straight feeling much softer and smoother.
