strops
I have only been using SR for about a month. The strop I'm using came with the set i bought from Vintage Blades. I have been taking my time to try and learn to do it right BUT I nicked the edge the other day. I don't want to buy a new stop until I become better at tecnique I also don't want to ruin the razor or get bloodied by bad shaves. Advice?

First of all, Welcome to SRP.
Many of the nicks that we put in our strops can be repaired. Depending on the degree of damage it could be a pretty easy fix. If you would post a picture or a more detailed description you will get plenty of good advice.
Also, there are a ton of posts on SRP about strop damage and if you did a search you might find one that deals with damage similar to yours. That would give you some prepackaged advice.

Thanks being new I forget about the wealth of information by searching old posts. The nick is along the edge of the strop at 2 inches from the top. 1/4" in about 3/8" long.

metalfab,
Happy New Year and welcome to SRP...
The situation you descibe is quite common...Most everybody new to str8 razor shaving has nicked their strop when entering the world of str8 razor shaving.
There are at least two forums within SRP that you will find useful to resolve your problem. The First is about strops. The second is about stropping. There is also a third, as mentioned by hi_bud_gl, that contains videos of proper stropping technique. Check out all of them. You may even want to repost your question in the "Strops" forum where a member who has already been there and done that (ie. nicked their strop) can offer some sage advice.
Good luck..."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain
